My husband and I enjoyed this no frills bbq in IL on our way to Atlanta. We always prefer local restaurants to fast food. Today was bbq day, the bbq sandwiches (turkey or pork) were $2.99!!!!! We both got plates. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich plate with included a huge portion of good fries, chow (coleslaw) and a drink for $10.99. I got just the turkey with a side of corn nuggets and a 1/2 sweet tea. Good tea. The delicious turkey is simply done, slabs of fork tender breast that has been cooked with a rub. This is a serious local place and very clean. The service was superb! Great recommendations and since I couldn't eat a bun (recent gluten sensitivities- ugh!) she gave me a cup of chow, very nice and considerate!

Good Food for a good price!! I rated it a 4 versus a 5 but I cannot think of anything I did not like. My server, Tammy M., met me at the door and had me sit anywhere I liked. I ordered the special of the day which was a BBQ Basket. The food arrived in only a few minutes with the lightly battered french fries screaming hot, a piled high pork sandwich on a toasted bun that was freshly soft on the inside with just the right toasted crunch on the flat surface and cole slaw that was the right sweetness and a nice add on to the sandwich. There was so much pork, it was hard to add additional cole slaw. Two in-house BBQ sauces were available in sweet and slightly spicy varieties. My unsweet ice tea arrived with the perfect sized lemon to be squeezed, a long tea spoon and a great long straw (Good plastic - Not the silly a--ed paper ones that are supposed to be good for the environment but stick to your lips and disintegrate as you use them). Food was great and there were some interesting local fresh fish options I will have to try next time. Tammy's service was great as she took care of the entire restaurant in an extremely fast and efficient matter. The location is a little odd nestled behind the Odum Concrete Plant which looked a little like a dive location but was more like a diner on the inside. With a steady stream of locals coming in for the good food at a good price. I will definitely be back now that I have eaten here.

Loved eating here for lunch, especially after a LONG drive from Chicago. Had the pulled pork sandwich. The BBQ was tangy and had a peppery taste. My friend thought it was homemade. There were only two options of sauce: Mild or Hot; the "Hot" tasted better in my opinion. I had a side of Okra (but it was fried okra - the menu didn't say fried). Also I had a baked potato with bacon, cheese. Very tasty. Inside was very cozy. It looked like there were a few locals eating at about 2 PM on July 4th. THis is a great place to stop if you are driving through Marion on a road trip and have a taste for BBQ. I would go again if it weren't so far from my house. They played country music on the radio and I love country music, so this added to the experience.
